Alameda School will be hosting their annual Awards Night/Grade 9 Farewell on June 11. Details:

What? End of year celebration and farewell to grade 9 students
Where? Alameda School Gymnasium
When? June 11 at 7 pm
The following awards will be presented:
1. Brian Moran Award - Highest Achievement in Math and Science (grade 9)
Brian Moran was a long-time teacher and principal at Alameda School. He loved to teach Math and Science. Brian passed away after a battle with cancer, and in his honor, the Brian Moran award was created.
2. Kyle Schiestel Memorial Athletic Award - Participation in Athletics and Academics (Leadership)
This award is presented annually to a grade 9 student attending Alameda School. The staff of the school select a worthy recipient based on the following criteria:
- the student must be athletic - participate in intramurals and most school sports, with some out-of-school involvement in activities such as hockey, golf, baseball, and skating
- the student must be competitive but a good sport, dedicated, well-rounded, and maintain good grades (preferably A/Ms)
- the student must also be willing to help others, be a leader, and be a good role model for other students
3. Principal's Award - Honorable Character (grade 9)
4. Rachelle Brown Award - Most Improved (grade 9)
Rachelle Brown was the daughter of Gerald and Joyce Brown, and the sister of Marlowe Brown. She was born in December of 1979 and soon after was diagnosed with a heart condition, which led to many complications and surgeries. Although Rachelle put up a good fight, she was unable to overcome her heart condition and passed away. Jerry and Joyce decided to honor their daughter by creating the Rachelle Brown Memorial Award which is given to a deserving grade 9 student who shows improved grades, attitude, friendliness, and personality.
